Immigrants’ and refugees’ ‘funds of knowledge(s)’ on the path to intercultural competence

چکیده

Funds of knowledges are the accumulated intellectual, social, and cultural competencies that all students bring to educational settings. Immigrants refugees necessarily experience emotional, material, linguistic, cultural, legal struggles as they transit from home countries host countries. Their experiences expand funds develop. Education must respond needs these students. A profound response is narrative approach called Círculos de memoria (‘Circles Memory’), which has been employed create safe spaces for immigrant or refugee share their lived knowledge have resulted those experiences. This also allows country express own knowledge. In interactions, participants increase sense competence, deepen understanding themselves other people, strengthen peaceful relationships, contribute more democratic ways living. An societal differences can be accomplished by recognising valuing possessed diverse backgrounds, including marginalised backgrounds. These promoted, celebrated, amplified through culturally relevant teaching practices.
